Role - Senior Sustainability Manager
Location – London (3 days in the office 2 remote)
Salary - £60,000
We are currently looking for a Senior Sustainability Manager, on a permanent contract, to work for a fantastic client of ours, based in a new office in central London, you’ll be expected to spend 3 days a week from the office and 2 from home. The salary on offer is up to £60,000
Our client, a well-known and highly respected global non for-profit organisation, are looking to add to their Business Action team and contributes to our programmatic work across the Built Environment, Industry and Energy systems to support the expansion of their work across the globe. Partnering with some of world’s largest companies and governments, our client’s goal is a world of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The ideal candidate will come from an industrial background (construction, automotive, metals, mining, steel, concrete etc) with a passion for climate action. You’ll have experience of working at a senior level but remaining hands on in your approach getting involved in ongoing campaigns and projects as well as taking a strategic view on how you can grow and your remit. You will have an background in sustainability, climate change or renewable energy with experience of managing a small team. Any experience within consultancy, NGO, energy, charity sectors, government would be useful.
A prior understanding of Energy efficiency and an existing network within CSR, Energy use/efficiency would be highly desirable
- Sector experience and knowledge – experience and understanding of climate and
energy issues in heavy emitting sectors, including market structure, policy, and the
relevance of business and government action to climate outcomes.
- Business/government experience – either having worked in business or worked in
partnership with business. Working in government or with governments would also
be an advantage.
- Project delivery - Proven track record of success in project delivery, including
managing partners and subcontractors to ensure fulfilment of the project schedule
and quality of work.
- Analytical / critical thinking – ability to rapidly assess multiple factors in complex
situations, filtering out noise to focus on those most relevant for achieving change.
- Matrix team experience – ability to crowd-in knowledge and considerations from
multiple sources, respecting specialists in other areas, being able to lead work to
clear conclusions, constructively challenging while also building consensus.
- Practical / hands-on approach – willingness to address whatever is required to
progress key initiatives.
